Russian and Slavonic Studies for undergraduates let to learn Russian in a number of ways. Through the Single Honours course you will become a skilled Russian speaker while developing expertise in fields such as Russian history, literature, film, linguistics and visual culture. Alternatively, one may want to study Russian alongside another subject. This lets you develop linguistic and cultural knowledge while learning an entirely new skill set. It is also an option of studying Russian as part of the BA in Modern Languages. This is an intensively language-focused programme which will give you fluency in Russian along with two other languages of your choice.

Research in the Department is organised into two broad areas: Russian Literature and Cultural Studies and Slavonic Languages and Linguistics. Both in our own research and in PhD supervision we participate actively in interdisciplinary research discussions and collaborations with other Departments across the School of Languages and Cultures under the auspices of the School Research Clusters.
